Nickelodeon, originally called The Pinwheel Network is an American children’s channel which is owned by Viacom and is operated under Nickelodeon Kids and Family Group. The channel mainly target the children in grade school and early teens with their weekday morning programs targeting preschoolers ages 2-6. Being the first American television network aimed at kids,it was promoted to The First Kid’s Network. The programs runs on Sundays from 6a.m-8p.m, Monday-Thursdays from 7a.m-8p.m, Fridays from 7a.m-9p.m and Saturdays from 6a.m-10p.m east and pacific time. Nickelodeon’s history dates from 1st December 1977 when Qube was launched in Columbus, Ohio and Warner Cable as Pinwheel. Pinwheel was re-launched in 1979 as Nickelodeon and began airing various warner cables in Buffalo and New York and latter expanding its audience reach. It opened Nickelodeon Studios at Universal Studios Florida in Oriando in 1990. The channel unveiled a new logo in July 2009 on the packaging of Nickelodeon DVDs.
